Aimee Reimer

I have been a Registered Psychologist since 2010. In addition to my work in private practice, I have also worked at a number of non-profit agencies both in counselling and supervisory roles.

In counselling, I work from a person-centered and strengths-based approach with clients. I believe clients are the expert in their own lives. I hold the belief that everyone has the strengths, skills, knowledge and values to help them move forward from difficult things, and my job is to walk-alongside to help people see those strengths and to feel empowered to address the reasons that brought them to counselling.

I am an approved mental health service provider with Indigenous Services Canada. I completed an undergrad minor in Native Students at the University of Alberta, and have taken ongoing training to provide counselling with cultural humility.

I also enjoy providing supervision to Registered Provisional Psychologists to help build their capacity. In addition to a Master’s degree, I hold an Advanced Certificate in Clinical Supervision from the University of Calgary, which helps to inform my supervision work.

I think giving back to the profession is important. So I teach at a local university, and think it is an honour to be a part the students’ first experiences in learning counselling skills. I also volunteer with the College of Alberta Psychologists Competence Committee, and the Psychologists’ Association of Alberta Supervision Community of Practice.
